Amy has been practicing yoga since 2010. After a life of intense and demanding competitive sports and physical activity, she realized the physical and mental benefits of yoga and quickly fell in love with the practice.
As a youth, Amy was a competitive gymnast, at the state and national level. After gymnastics, she found herself enjoying kickboxing, distance running, and weight training. Running full and half marathons and engaging in high intensity training began to take their toll and Amy started to supplement her training with Bikram yoga. This intense yoga practice showed her a way to challenge her body without damaging it.
In 2011, she received her RYT 200 after studying under Wendy O'Lenic and began teaching at Hot Fitness Yoga in Clearwater, Florida. Amy soon found a new home at Heat where she has been teaching since 2012. Amy's love for yoga and fitness has given her a unique teaching style that blends power yoga, vinyasa flow, and intense core work. She enjoys challenging her students to optimize their strength while inviting them to explore their bodies with ahimsa (compassion) and svadhyaya (curiosity).
